> Teens & Trucks Share the Road High School Lesson Plan

Request the Fatal Vision Goggles and activity kit from the Teens and Trucks Share the Road program. Review their information sheet for more information and to find other resources.

Explain increased potential of injury when employing high risk behaviors while operating and occupying a vehicle (e.g., distracted driving, impaired driving, seat belt safety, and pedestrians).

Students will be able to identify and describe the dangers associated with distracted driving, impaired driving, improper seat belt use, and pedestrian risks.

  • What are some examples of high-risk behaviors while driving, and how can they increase the potential for injury?
  • Why is it important to avoid distractions and impairments when driving, and what are some strategies to stay focused and safe on the road?
  • How does proper seat belt use contribute to occupant safety, and what are the risks associated with not wearing a seatbelt?

Request a free Activity Kit and Fatal Vision Goggles demonstration for your school through the Teens & Trucks Share the Road website. Review the provided informational materials with your students and conduct the goggle demonstration.

Have students write a brief reflection on their experience. Ask them to describe how the goggles affected their perception and balance, explain how this experience relates to the dangers of impaired driving, and list three strategies they can use to prevent impaired driving.
