Explain the four levels of the Tennessee Graduate Driver’s License Law.

Explain increased potential of injury when employing high risk behaviors while operating and occupying a vehicle (e.g., distracted driving, impaired driving, seat belt safety, and pedestrians).

  • Students will be able to identify and describe the dangers associated with distracted driving, impaired driving, improper seat belt use, and pedestrian risks.
  • Students will be able to outline and summarize the requirements and restrictions of each of the four levels of the Tennessee Graduated Driver’s License Law.
  • What are some common distractions for new drivers, and how do these distractions increase the risk of accidents?
  • How does impaired driving affect your ability to safely operate a vehicle, and what are some strategies to prevent driving under the influence?
  • Why is it important to always wear a seat belt, regardless of how short the trip is, and what are the potential consequences of not wearing one?
  • What are the four levels of the Tennessee Graduated Driver’s License Law, and how do these restrictions promote safe driving for teens?

Have students complete the “Teen Tips” and “Adult Talking Points” sections for each skill in the Passport. Watch the corresponding PSA video by scanning the QR code provided on each page.

Review the completed Passport to ensure all sections have been filled out and stamped by a parent/guardian.
