  • Students will identify best practices for occupant safety in public transportation, rideshare, and personal vehicles.
  • Students will summarize actions to protect themselves from injuries related to vehicles, bikes, and pedestrian situations.
  • How do safety practices differ between public transportation, rideshares, and personal vehicles?
  • What are some unique risks pedestrians face in urban areas versus rural areas, and how can they protect themselves?
  • What safety features or actions can cyclists take to reduce their risk of injury when sharing the road with vehicles?

Assign students to teams representing different modes of transportation. Each team researches and presents arguments for why their mode is the safest, backing claims with statistics and safety features. Other teams challenge these claims, promoting critical thinking about safety across all modes.

Evaluate students’ research skills, quality of arguments, use of data, and ability to critically analyze and respond to other teams’ claims. Assess individual contributions to the debate.
