Invite a guest speaker through the THSO Speakers Bureau by completing THSO Speakers Bureau Request Form. Select a guest speaker based on your specific needs, focusing on topics such as Seat Belt Safety and Distracted Driving to address responsible passenger behavior.
Discuss the importance of being a good passenger by ensuring everyone is buckled and keeping distractions to a minimum.
By the end of the lesson, students will actively participate in discussions about the role of a passenger and demonstrate understanding of minimizing potential distractions to enhance safety.
As students exit the presentation, have them act out one responsible passenger behavior they learned. This could include miming buckling a seatbelt, staying quiet while the driver is focused, or keeping hands and objects inside the vehicle.
Observe students’ demonstrations to ensure they accurately portray a responsible passenger behavior discussed in the presentation. Note the variety of behaviors shown to gauge overall comprehension of the topic.
